RCS & RDS, Telekom, Orange, Vodafone, Call decision

RCS & RDS, Telekom, Orange, Vodafone, all Romanian customers are affected by a last-minute decision taken by the telecommunications operators together with the authorities, and everyone will feel its impact. More precisely, ANCOM negotiated with RCS & RDS, and the rest of the telecom environment, about reducing the maximum rate for calls to mobile points, and managed to reach a final price with them to be applied in Romania.

RCS & RDS, together with the rest of the telecommunications environment, agreed to reduce the maximum rate for calls to mobile points to the value of 0.76 euro cents per minute, 10% lower than now. The reduction of this rate should apply to all RCS & RDS customers, and not only, but mainly only to those with prepaid cards without options, or those who run out of subscription minutes.

RCS & RDS, Telekom, Orange, Vodafone all agreed with this change, but also those from Lycamobile, MNVO, participated in the discussions and agreed with what ANCOM proposed. The new rate will be applied by RCS & RDS, and the rest of the companies, starting with January 1, 2020, and by the end of next year, a new, even lower, rate should be decided at the European level for completing calls on mobile phones.

"ANCOM proposed, as a transitional measure, until the adoption of a single termination rate for calls to mobile points at the European level, expected to take place by the end of 2020, the practice of a maximum rate of 0,76 euro cents/minute for calls to points mobile, 10% lower than the current level. We expect that this reduction will also be reflected in the rate that each user pays for calls to mobile terminals."

RCS & RDS was involved in this process, along with the rest of the operators, some time ago, and that's because ANCOM notified all companies in advance about its plans. This ultimately led to the choice of this lower rate applicable from January 1, 2020 in the RCS & RDS network, but also in the others in Romania, so that all customers will take full advantage of the change, if they had to pay until now .

RCS & RDS, Telekom, Orange, Vodafone will not have customers with unlimited subscriptions affected in any way by this change, which is perfectly normal, so only the rest of the customers could feel changes.
