Digi Mobil is the fourth largest telecommunications operator in Romania, and in the next period there will be a lot of big changes that customers will benefit from as soon as they are ready. The first big change, which is already in full implementation process at Digi Mobil, is the 5G network, which has been launched and is expanding quite quickly throughout Romania, which is very good news for all Romanian customers.
Digi Mobil launched the 5G network in June 2019, then in very few areas of Bucharest, but by this time stations should be active in many other cities in Romania, even if the coverage is limited. Digi Mobil's 5G network is a priority for RCS & RDS at the moment, and this is because there is a lot of interest in this technology, and the operators who offer these services first will have more customers.
BIG Changes are coming for DIGI MOBIL and ROMANIAN Customers
Digi Mobil also has another project that has remained secret until now, the expansion of coverage using 2G technology, and it either does this with its own stations, or it has started testing the infrastructure of Telekom. Regardless of the situation, Digi Mobil customers have started to see active 2G points in their areas, some being able to use them for phone calls, others not, but it is clear that a big change is about to take place on this side as well.
Until now, Digi Mobil has not had GSM coverage on the 2G side, being thought of as an exclusive 3G mobile network initially, then switching to 4G, and now to 5G, but it seems that there is a return to 2G as well. The 2G part provides coverage only for phone calls, without usable internet, and this makes the investments cheaper, and although for now we do not know very clearly what Digi Mobil will have on this part, it is clear that 2G will also come.
Digi Mobil will make these two big changes during the next months for all customers in Romania, and we are talking about radical improvements for what users in our country have.
