Google Maps has received an update for the functionalities it offers to users all over the world, and thanks to it, it can now offer something that many people will find extremely useful. More precisely, for the Google Maps application dedicated to phones, a new function is implemented that allows the much easier discovery of historical monuments in cities, and for tourists a function of this kind means a lot in excursions.
As you can see in the images below, the Google Maps application has already displayed special icons for historical monuments in cities that are visited by people. Each icon is highlighted according to the location where the user is, and in the lower part of the application interface is visible a recommendation to explore the location and possibly that historical monument, so people discover more easily what interests them.
Google Maps displays these icons for the historical monuments that are already present on the platform anyway, so we are not talking about adding new ones, but highlighting the existing ones. You can see that only the very important historical monuments, which are also great tourist attractions, are highlighted in a first phase in the application, but everything depends on the scale at which the map is displayed for the city that people are visiting.
If you zoom in on a certain area, the Google Maps application will display many more historical monuments there so that they are easier for people to discover, so that everything is not limited to only the big ones. Google Maps has had this function in full development process for some time, but until now everything has been tested, so that in the end the change will be offered in the final version for all users.
Google Maps should now display points of interest in this way on both iPhone and Android phones right now.
