Telekom takes a RADICAL New Decision, HOW Customers are Affected

Telekom takes a new radical decision that few people expected, here is what was decided in the board of directors of the group, and how the customers are affected.

Telekom RADICAL Decision Affects Customers

Telekom is a German group with business around the world and hundreds of millions of customers, with a stock market capitalization of several tens of billions of dollars, and in Romania, Deutsche Telekom owns two subsidiaries under the simple brand. The Telekom subsidiary in Romania that coordinates the mobile phone infrastructure has not yet announced its plans regarding the possible launch of a 5G network, and this will not happen soon.

Telekom has announced that in Germany it is suspending any kind of 5G equipment purchases until a decision is made by the Government regarding which suppliers are approved to deliver equipment, and which are not. Telekom already has several 5G networks with low coverage launched in some cities in Germany, and in Berlin it made the network using Huawei equipment, that is, the manufacturer that would be banned by the government.

Telekom takes a RADICAL New Decision, HOW Customers are Affected

Telekom does not seem to want to completely give up on Huawei for the supply of 5G equipment, although about a week ago it gave the impression that this was the case, so it decided to completely stop equipment purchases until the situation is clarified. Those from Telekom notified all their partners about this situation, and instead of blocking one or more, they decided to adopt a strategy that, theoretically, should not upset anyone.

"Deutsche Telekom has agreed to all bids to buy 5G network equipment, it said on Wednesday, as it awaits resolution of a debate in Germany over whether to ban Chinese vendor Huawei on security grounds."

Telekom is in an identical situation in Romania, here the Prime Minister of Romania, Ludovic Orban, affirmed at one point that the Huawei situation would be analyzed, something that the president Klaus Iohannis also affirmed, bringing CSAT into discussion. In practice, Telekom in Romania has not done anything official on the 5G side, and more than likely a clarification of the situation is expected here, as in Germany, in order to make the best decisions.

Telekom is the only large telecommunications operator in Romania that does not have an active 5G network at the moment, and it is 100% certain that the year 2020 will begin without them announcing any changes from this point of view for local customers.
