More precisely, those from RCS & RDS decided to announce the spectacular increase in 2G coverage in Romania by updating the GSM coverage map on the Digi website, and this under the conditions that this network was only launched sometime in the fall.
RCS & RDS moved so quickly with the expansion of 2G coverage in Romania that we can only wonder if the plans of those from Digi are to put a greater emphasis, in the end, on GSM than on 5G in 2020 as well. as regards the maps for 5G coverage, nothing has changed since the summer until now, a sign that in these 5 months no significant progress has been made by those from RCS & RDS, otherwise the maps that are available now would have been modified .

RCS & RDS is the only one of the most mobile operators that invests so much in 2G networks at the moment, and this is because the rest have an extremely large infrastructure in Romania for years. RCS & RDS was the only operator that did not have any 2G infrastructure in the country, and this greatly affected the quality of services that customers benefit from, but Digi finally decided to implement this technology as well.
RCS & RDS are certainly investing substantial amounts of money to expand their 2G coverage so much, and that could come at the expense of investments for the 5G network, but there things are stuck anyway. In Romania, Huawei is at the attention of the authorities because of the possible security problems that its equipment represents, so that both RCS & RDS, as well as the rest of the telecom companies, are waiting for the authorities to investigate the situation, but also to make the auction for the 5G frequencies.
RCS & RDS makes an extremely important investment for its customers, and this is because the 2G network will substantially improve the quality of the GSM signal both outside and especially inside buildings.
