Apple: RADICAL decision for iPhone that HITS Samsung

Apple made a radical decision for iPhone phones that directly hits Samsung, here's what the Americans want to do for its future products.

Apple iPhone decision

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), would be very close to making a radical and completely unexpected decision for its iPhone phones, one that few people expected and thought possible, considering the company's profile. More precisely, those from Apple are in very advanced discussions to buy a factory where the screens that will be used in the following iPhone models will be produced, and maybe even in other types of devices prepared by the Americans.

Apple would like to buy one of the factories of Japan Display, a company that has been making screens for a variety of Apple devices for years, but which has had very big problems for a very long time. Japan Display went through a restructuring in the summer, received various investments from Apple and other investors, but it still cannot recover, so the Americans would like to buy the factory where screens for its devices are produced.

Apple and Sharp are the companies that are discussing with Japan Display for the purchase of the factory that is for sale, and the companies could take the step together, in a collaboration for the future. For now it appears that Apple and Sharp have not decided how to divide their control of the factory, but it is possible that the Americans will have a minority percentage of the shares of the factory, while Sharp could have the majority of control on her.

“On December 12, JDI announced that it is in the final stages of discussions with a potential buyer – possibly Apple – of the equipment at the Hakusan plant for approximately $200 million. It appears that the scope of the discussions has shifted to the sale of the entire facility, including land and buildings. Sources say JDI is negotiating with Apple to sell the factory for between 80 billion and 90 billion yen ($730 million to $820 million). The factory is one of JDI's largest factories. Apple has pre-paid almost half of the 170 billion yen factory construction cost.”

Japan Display confirmed that it would have entered a final phase of negotiations with Apple regarding the sale of the factory, and the Americans could pay between 730 and 820 million dollars for it, but the investment is an extremely important one. Although Japan Display produces LCD screens there, Apple can turn it into a factory where it will be able to produce its own OLED screens for products, something that Americans have been wanting for some time.

Apple will also reduce its dependence on Samsung thanks to an acquisition of this kind, which would be a big blow for the Koreans, but it will take time for everything to be prepared by Apple.
