Telekom: RADICAL decision that leaves customers with a BIG LOSS

Telekom took a radical decision that leaves customers in Romania with a very big loss, here is what the group says about the situation in our country.

Telekom loss

Telekom announced at the end of last year a radical decision that was taken in Romania, and which affects a very large number of customers who currently use the services offered by the operator throughout the country. More precisely, after failed negotiations with the Discovery group, Telekom made the decision to remove all the stations belonging to that group from their schedule, the change coming into effect on January 1, 2020.

Telekom has removed Animal Planet, Animal Planet HD, Discovery Channel, Discovery Science, Discovery Science HD, Discovery Showcase HD, Eurosport HD, Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, Eurosport 2 HD, Eurosport 360 HD, Viasat HD from its program schedule. DTX HD, ID Xtra, ID Xtra HD, TLC, Travel Channel HD, Food Network and Food Network HD from January 1, 2020. Following this decision, it seems that Discovery has started an information campaign accusing Telekom is responsible for removing stations from the program grid.

Telekom: RADICAL decision that leaves customers with a BIG LOSS

Telekom is a bit upset by this decision, especially since its customers are seriously affected by the loss of the above channels, including Eurosport, so it responded to the accusations from Discovery. Telekom asks those from Discovery to take part of the blame for the failure of the negotiations in Romania, which of course is perfectly normal, because two parties participated in the discussions, and both are to blame for the failure.

"The Telekom Romania company is surprised by the recent statements and comments made by the Discovery group on all its communication channels, after Telekom removed from its program grid all the channels from the Discovery portfolio. Despite recent comments and articles that have tried to suggest otherwise, Telekom Romania has always been flexible and open throughout the negotiations and, from our perspective, this partnership would have continued if the Discovery group had been as open to negotiations."

Telekom says that although it was open in negotiations with those from Discovery, unfortunately it would not have received the same from its very old partner, which turned out to be a problem, in the end. Unfortunately, the dispute between the two big groups leaves 1.5 million customers of Telekom and Nextgen without all the channels I mentioned above, and I'm sure there are enough people unhappy about this.

Telekom did not replace those channels with others, but it will most likely reach an agreement with Discovery in the end because the same thing always happens in negotiations of this kind.
