FREE NOW FREE Races Coronavirus

FREE NOW, the ridesharing platform from Romania, has announced that it will offer free transportation to medical personnel who are currently fighting the Coronavirus, all within the framework of a project that brings a special function to the application to request these rides.

FREE NOW has modified certain cars so that all medical personnel transported to and from home/workplaces are separated from the drivers, in order to substantially reduce the risk of infection with the new Coronavirus among those who transport them.

"Free rides for those fighting against the coronavirus through the FREE NOW taxi and ridesharing app

Bucharest, March 26, 2020: FREE NOW (Clever) supports the medical staff fighting against the coronavirus and the staff from the institutions involved in the organization and management of the state of emergency, in partnership with the Student Association of the Bucharest Polytechnic University. The company has created a dedicated section for these hospital heroes in the taxi and ridesharing app FREE NOW, where they can order rides and travel to and from work for free during the state of emergency, based on their work ID.

"Doctors and all those who are directly involved in the management of the emergency situation are currently in a continuous race against the virus and they need all the support. They are the heroes in hospitals, and that's why FREE NOW is now starting this initiative to help them get to work or home as quickly and safely as possible, avoiding the risks associated with traveling by public transport or by own means after an exhausting guard," said Anca Gherle, Public Affairs Manager at FREE NOW (Clever).

The free races are provided with the support of a special fleet of partner drivers who have volunteered to become street heroes to support the heroes fighting against the coronavirus. At this moment, approximately 200 partner drivers from Bucharest have joined the initiative and will run exclusively for doctors and staff involved in emergency management.

FREE NOW is making every effort to find other street heroes willing to volunteer their car and time to drive the doctors, without expecting any compensation, and aims to extend the help to other cities in the country where the application is available. For safe racing, the company has identified a solution for equipping the cars with a dividing panel between the front seats and the back seat.

In support of the volunteer drivers, FREE NOW has also concluded a partnership with the Student Association of the Bucharest Polytechnic University through which anyone can help, from home, the heroes in hospitals in the fight against the coronavirus. The more donations, the more races for doctors, but also financial support for fuel expenses and the masks, disinfectants and gloves needed to run the races in as safe conditions as possible. All information on how the community can help is available at free-now.com/heroi.

"The Polytechnic Students' Association was always present when the situation required it. Now, I think it is an important moment when every student can lend a helping hand so that we can overcome the difficult situation well. In addition to the fact that we are, according to statistics, outside the risk group, I believe that we have a duty, both to doctors and to our parents and grandparents, to get involved, to be responsible and to act when needed our help", said Porumbita Antonio, general coordinator of the Student Association of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.

"The university is always with the students. Now, more than ever, we will support them in all their actions to help those in need. Moreover, the Technical University of Bucharest is involved, along with other institutions, to develop mechanisms to combat and prevent the epidemic. In addition to joint efforts. to lend a helping hand, it is important these days that each of us be as responsible as possible," added Mihnea Costoiu, rector of the Bucharest Polytechnic University."
