orange internet telephones medical personnel

Orange announced today one of the most important measures that any telecommunications operator in Romania has taken up to now, as an addition to the measures they have announced up to now.

Orange announced that it is offering unlimited mobile internet for two months to medical personnel working in hospitals in Romania, together with unlimited minutes and Samsung phones, plus a donation of 400.000 euros for new equipment.

Orange donates to coronavirus hospitals

"Bucharest, April 3, 2020. These days, when every gesture counts, solidarity, responsibility and care for the community are essential. Since the beginning, Orange's actions have focused on ensuring the continuity of services, providing uninterrupted connectivity to customers and protecting all its employees, without which the provision of these services would not have been possible.

Equally, the company's efforts go towards supporting the community, for which health, education and connectivity are vital.

Uninterrupted connectivity for those on the front lines

More than ever, those who risk their lives and health every day must benefit from connectivity. Thus, all medical and auxiliary staff (nurses, nurses, etc.), Orange customers, who work in front-line public hospitals intended to treat patients affected by the new coronavirus, will benefit from free unlimited internet for a period of two months. This benefit is granted to all requests received by May 31, 2020, and the application procedure can be found on the page dedicated to the campaign.

Also, in partnership with Samsung Romania, Orange directs to 55 public hospitals throughout Romania, 330 packages consisting of Samsung Galaxy A51 phones and SIMs with unlimited voice and internet resources valid for a period of 6 months. Through them, the medical staff will be able to carry out their work more efficiently and will be able to communicate more easily with remote patients or with other medical personnel.

Equipment for hospitals

Orange Romania, together with the Orange Foundation, continues to support Romanian communities and society. Thus, the Orange Foundation gets involved in the fight against the new coronavirus by allocating EUR 400.000 to the Romanian Red Cross. The amount will be used to equip the ATI wards with artificial ventilation devices for public hospitals in the country, as well as for the purchase of protective equipment.

Connectivity for education

Education also remains indispensable. Through the Digitaliada platform, the Orange Foundation supports the continuity of the educational process and communication between teachers, students and parents since the suspension of classes. With over 10.000 new accounts added in less than two weeks, the Online Learning and Testing section has proven to be a very useful tool, along with the over 2000 educational resources available for free on www.digitaliada.ro. In addition, during the state of emergency, all Orange customers benefit from free data traffic in the Digitaliada platform.

In addition to the educational resources from the Digitaliada platform, between March 26 and April 14, Orange supports a series of free programming webinars within SuperCoders. Together with the trainers from the Simplon Romania team, children between the ages of 10 and 14 will develop their creativity and ability to write code, but also to solve new challenges with the help of technology.

"It is our turn to take care of those who now carry on their shoulders immense pressure, responsibilities with major human and economic impact. For this reason, we consider it our duty, all of us, to support the medical staff in their efforts and to facilitate their mission to make Romania good. The support actions announced today by Orange and the Orange Foundation directly target the medical sector, but they echo throughout the community. Medical equipment is instrumental to doctors, but vital to patients. We overcome difficult moments more easily together, that's why every gesture counts." said Liudmila Climoc, Chief Executive Officer of Orange Romania.
