Romanian police quarantine drone

The Romanian Police, through the Special Brigade of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, used a drone to detect people fleeing to the countryside from the quarantined villages in Suceapva County, and on Friday night they found no less than 16 people "out for a walk" near Patrauti.

The Romanian Police used a drone with thermal imaging to monitor the field area around the village, and thus discover the people who were sitting around a fire, probably waiting to flee the area, but they chose fines and a return home, the monitoring continuing.

"During the past week, following the checks carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the movement of some citizens from the quarantined area in Suceava county to Cluj county, it turned out that 21 of them left illegally from Pătrăuți.

In order to avoid the filters established on public roads, they crossed the agricultural area to a bordering town, not in quarantine, where they were awaited by two minibuses that transported them to the place of boarding a bus bound for Cluj airport .

Following the investigations carried out, sanctions were applied and a criminal file was drawn up regarding the commission of the crime of thwarting the fight against diseases, provided for by art. 352 of the Criminal Code, as well as the violation of the provisions of Military Ordinance No. 6 regarding the restrictions established during the state of emergency.

In order to avoid the repetition of these facts, the Minister of Internal Affairs ordered the addition of the forces and means that monitor the quarantined areas, being mobilized effectively of the Special Intervention Brigade from the central level, which is also equipped with technical means of aerial surveillance.

Thus, during the night from Thursday to Friday (around 01:00) 16 people were detected in the outskirts of Pătrăuți commune, from Suceava county, who violated the travel prohibitions in the quarantined area.

15 of them were fined a total of 30.000 lei for leaving the quarantine area and violating traffic restrictions, and the 16th person, a 15-year-old minor, was verbally warned.

We remind you that we are still on duty during this period and that we will ensure compliance with the law and the provisions of the Military Ordinances regarding stopping the spread of infections with the new coronavirus.

We recommend all Romanians to stay at home to protect their loved ones.

We assure all citizens in quarantined areas that we are protecting their health and will not tolerate any misconduct.

We are at your service!
Happy holidays and good health, everyone!"
