The Romanian Police explains below the new provisions of Military Ordinance 10 that regulate how people over 65 can travel, some of which were announced last night by the Minister of the Ministry of Interior, Marcel Vela.
The Romanian Police details very clearly the conditions under which people can travel to carry out their activities that force them to leave their homes, but with the mention that it is still recommended to avoid any unnecessary roads during the state of emergency.
"According to Military Ordinance no. 10, the movement of people who have reached the age of 65, outside the home, is allowed in the time intervals 07.00 - 11.00 and 19.00 - 22.00, strictly for the following reasons:
- travel for the provision of goods covering the basic needs of people and pets/domestic animals, including travel for the purchase of motor vehicles, motor vehicle parts and car repair services;
- traveling for justified reasons, such as caring for/accompanying a minor, assisting other elderly, sick or disabled persons, or in the event of the death of a family member;
- short journeys, near the home/household, related to the individual physical activity of people (excluding any collective physical activities), as well as for the needs of pets/domestic animals.
Also, regardless of the time interval, the movement of people who have reached the age of 65, outside the home/household, is strictly allowed for the following reasons:
- travel in professional interest, including between the home/household and the place(s) of professional activity and back, as well as in order to carry out commercial fishing and aquaculture activities, but also the movement of beekeepers to/from the location of the apiary or for the movement of the apiary.
- traveling for medical assistance that cannot be postponed or carried out remotely, including planned oncological treatments, dialysis, etc., using public transport, own means of transport
- travel or of the family/supporters or, as the case may be, the means of specially intended medical transport;
- moving to carry out agricultural activities;
- the movement of agricultural producers for the marketing of products
