The Romanian Police is making a very important warning today because we are talking about a crime that some Romanians commit without realizing it when they share a video clip on a social network that contains sexual abuse with a minor, even if they just share that post.
The Romanian Police is issuing the warning in the context that in the last few days such a film was distributed on social networks, but it was not from Romania, but the people who distribute such materials, even by sharing, are committing the crime of child pornography.
"These days, a video is being shared on social networks in which a child is sexually abused by an adult.
Following our checks, it emerged that this case is not from Romania.
However, we remind you that the legislation in our country criminalizes the distribution, as well as the making available, in any way, of pornographic materials with minors. These acts are punishable by imprisonment from 1 to 5 years.
Also, if the facts provided in para. (1) were committed through a computer system or other means of storing computer data, the penalty is imprisonment from 2 to 7 years.
If you have information about users of social media applications sharing such material, please notify the police immediately and do not share further, as you are committing a crime."
