DIGI Mobil: The measure that has IMPACT for Romanian Customers

DIGI Mobil took a measure that has an impact for many customers in Romania, here is what the company seems to have decided to do at the moment in the country.

DIGI Mobile slowed down

DIGI Mobile is one of the largest mobile and landline operators on the local market, and this in the conditions where there is a lot of competition, but the company has maintained a fairly good position on the market. Until April, the people from DIGI Mobil invested seriously in the 5G network they activated in Romania, updating the coverage information for various areas of the country about a month, but for more than a month and a half things have been stagnant.

DIGI Mobile it has not updated the map with 5G coverage since the beginning of April, and this although the maps for the coverage of the other networks were updated almost two weeks ago. It is quite clear that DIGI Mobil has either stopped or substantially slowed down the pace of investments in the 5G network, and this in the conditions that it has the most extensive network of this kind in our country, far surpassing Orange and Vodafone, Telekom not having infrastructure of this kind.

DIGI Mobil: The measure that has IMPACT for Romanian Customers

DIGI Mobile he is most likely waiting for the auction for 5G frequencies, which was announced by the Romanian authorities for the last part of 2020, but a lot also depends on how the Coronavirus pandemic will unfold. It is not excluded that until then DIGI Mobil will not invest at all in expanding the 5G network, especially since Huawei, one of the equipment suppliers, could be excluded from offering products for Romanian operators.

DIGI Mobile uses telecommunications equipment from Huawei, as well as from other manufacturers, but if it were forced to eliminate the existing ones, it would probably have big problems. Those from DIGI Mobil do not give explanations for the rate at which they are investing in improving the coverage for the telecommunications networks they have in Romania, so it remains to be seen what exactly will happen in the next period with the maps.

DIGI Mobile it still remains far ahead of the competition in terms of the 5G network in our country, and even if it were to take a break until the 5G frequency auction, it will still be difficult to catch up.
