Telekom and Orange are facing a very important decision that they are waiting for in Romania at the moment, and this in the conditions in which they have been patient for more than half a year already. I am talking about the fact that the Romanian Government has not yet announced what it has decided regarding allowing the sale of the fixed services division within Telekom to those from Orange, a very important decision expected not only by companies, but also by millions of customers.
Orange wants to buy the fixed services division of Telekom because at the moment it is linked to it in order to be able to offer its fixed internet and fixed television services, based on an agreement from a few years ago. It is not known how much Orange should pay for this division of Telekom, but there are several million customers, so it is more than likely a large amount.
Telekom and Orange facing an IMPORTANT Decision in Romania
Telekom has been discussing with the Romanian Government since autumn/winter, as well as Orange, both requesting that the process be shipped as soon as possible so that the sale takes place quickly. This is also necessary because an approval including from the European Commission is needed for the sale of Telekom's fixed services division to Orange, and this procedure could also take several months from the moment it is initiated.
Orange and Telekom want things to end as quickly as possible to be able to carry out their activities normally again throughout the country, but it is difficult to say to what extent they will succeed in doing this. It is expected that the Romanian Government will make a decision over the summer, at the latest, regarding this long-awaited sale of Telekom's landline division to Orange, but it remains to be seen what will be the very clear intentions of those at the Victoria Palace.
Telekom has a lot of customers who can't wait to switch to Orange in the hope that they will get better services in the daily use of the services they pay for.
