UBER: HUGE Change, Why You Might DROP The Service

UBER is making a huge, unprecedented change for the ridesharing platform, and here's why you might stop using it soon.

UBER multiplier

UBER makes one of the biggest changes in the history of the company that offers ridesharing services in various areas of the globe, and we are talking about something that is contrary to the way the service was thought. Those from UBER have started testing a new system for races since last months that allows drivers to set their own multiplier for the races they have to make, something that until now was done automatically by the company.

UBER the prices of the rides increase when there is a very high demand in a certain location, or the time period in a larger area, the standard prices are increased by 1.5, 2, 3, 5 times compared to the normal value. A few months ago, those from UBER started testing in the US the possibility for drivers to set their own multiplier for rides, which allows them to generate more money from the platform, of course at the expense of regular customers.

UBER: HUGE Change, Why You Might DROP The Service

UBER is testing this system now in all of California, expanding the test from just a few areas to the entire state, and this could lead to an increase in prices for the rides made there by customers. We are talking about the possibility for drivers to set these multipliers to whatever value they want, and UBER just monitors the situation to see what happens, and nothing more, the customers paying the higher costs of the rides, without being able to do anything, in the end.

“Uber allows drivers in Southern California and Sacramento to set their own fares, a feature it will soon bring to the Bay Area and statewide. They can charge at least half the standard rate and up to five times the standard rate. These choices are in increments of 10%, so a driver could charge 30% over the regular fare, for example. They can also respect Uber's default fares.”

UBER it allows the drivers to increase the fares of the rides in levels of 10%, up to 500% compared to the normal value of a ride, and from here a completely different competition among them is born. UBER drivers can ask for even less than a ride is normally worth, and if more people choose to apply for a ride, it is possible that in the end the customer will win, although it remains to be seen how things will work in the end the platform.

UBER will eventually test this function in several US states, and someday it will also reach Romania, but it is hard to say if it will be a good or extremely bad idea for the end customers.
