The Romanian Post has announced a historic first for its existence, the national company choosing to do something that no one thought they would ever see, but good things are happening for the benefit of the Romanians, and below you have the details.
"BUCHAREST, August 5, 2020 - In the context of the crisis caused by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, which demonstrated that air transport is not always accessible, the National Romanian Post Company sought solutions to respect its commitments and to ensure the comfort of its customers, the safety of their shipments, but also the speed of their delivery.
Thus, Pošta Română has inaugurated a new car postal route: Bucharest – Timisoara – Frankfurt and return. This will ensure the exchange of postal items originating in Germany and destined for Romania. The car race to Germany represents a first in the history of the Romanian Post.
"The situations created by the closure of airports and the appearance of uncontrollable delays in the delivery activity challenged us to find alternative transport solutions. The use of the road route is perhaps the safest method of delivery to the destination of Romanian Post clients' items. We have always prioritized honoring our commitments. That's how we decided to set up a car race on the route Bucharest - Timisoara - Frankfurt and back. The job of a postman means, by definition, creating bridges between people, which we also try to do through all the measures we implement", said Horia Grigorescu, General Director of the Romanian Post.
The car race is carried out with cars and drivers of the Romanian Post Company and will, for the beginning, have a frequency of twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. The first race arrived in Frankfurt on Wednesday, August 4, and will return to Bucharest today."
