Romanian Police: important action in the Coronavirus pandemic

The Romanian Police revealed an action it carried out in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, the authorities managing to discover a group of people who were offering counterfeit hygiene products for sale to Romanian buyers.

"This morning, the police officers of the Economic Crime Investigation Directorate-IGPR are carrying out 12 searches, in Bucharest and Ilfov, to break up a criminal group, suspected of counterfeiting cleaning products, hygiene and sanitary alcohol.

On August 19, 2020, the police officers of the Economic Crime Investigation Department, under the coordination of the case prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Ilfov Court, with the support of the fighters of the Service for Interventions and Special Actions-IGPR, implement 12 home search warrants, in Bucharest city and Ilfov county.

The activities target the residences of some people and the registered offices of some commercial companies suspected of commercial activities with counterfeit cleaning, hygiene and sanitary alcohol products, the products being used for various customers in the commercial centers of Ilfov.

In the case, several natural persons are suspected of having produced and sold, through commercial companies owned by interposed persons, without material creditworthiness, counterfeit cleaning, hygiene and sanitary alcohol products, which represent a social danger for health and bodily integrity .

The activities were carried out without highlighting the commercial operations carried out in the accounting documents, thus avoiding the payment of related fees and taxes to the state budget.

Police officers from the Economic Crime Investigation Department and the Ilfov Economic Crime Investigation Service are participating in the action, which benefits from the support of anti-fraud inspectors from the General Anti-Fraud Fiscal Directorate who carry out specific checks on the commercial partners of the commercial companies that are the subject of investigations.

Also, forensic specialists from the National Institute of Forensics and intervention teams from the Service for Interventions and Special Actions participate in the activities."
