Orange: IMPORTANT Announcement about the Purchase of the Telekom Division

Orange took a huge step towards buying Telekom's landline division, here is what the operator has achieved, and how much it means for new customers.

Orange memorandum

Orange has been struggling for about a year to buy the fixed services division of Telekom, and this in the conditions in which both companies discussed last year with representatives of the Romanian Government regarding this intention, but without success. Well, things seem to be going on a normal path, and that's because Orange and the Romanian Government have signed an agreement in principle regarding the purchase of Telekom's fixed services division.

Orange would create a new company, in which the Romanian Government will have 20% of the shares, given that it now owns part of the shares of the fixed division of Telekom, which in return owns part of the mobile services division. If this agreement in principle will be approved, then we would finally talk about the sale of half of the operations that Telekom currently has in Romania, leaving the mobile services division.

Orange: IMPORTANT Announcement about the Purchase of the Telekom Division

Orange do not buy that division because it would not have received approval from the European Commission anyway, but it is not excluded that RCS & RDS will do this, especially since Digi Mobil has fewer customers than Telekom's mobile division. However, with the acquisition of Telekom's fixed services division, those from Orange finally ensure the ability to offer Romanian customers including television services under their own regime, something that is now also done through the partner's infrastructure, but with a special agreement .

Orange he will most likely spend a large amount of money to buy the fixed services division of those from Telekom, even if for now no figure has been circulated regarding this transaction. Orange struggled a lot to buy the fixed services division of Telekom, and everything should take place in the end, maybe even this year, but the approval of the European Commission is needed for everything to be completed in the following months.

Orange it would finally become more competitive on the market of fixed internet and television services, where it depends on Telekom to provide its services, a situation which of course is not to the liking of the French group.
