The Romanian Police continues the actions to stop the deforestation

The Romanian Police made a very important announcement today, saying that it continues to carry out important missions to stop deforestation in the forests all over Romania, and below you have the most recommended action of this kind, which also had an important recorded result.

"More than 2.000 cubic meters of wood were confiscated by the policemen of the Forestry and Fisheries Fund Protection Service within the Public Order Directorate, in the last week, following an action in Maramureș County, to prevent and combat unauthorized cutting of trees from the national forest fund .

During the period August 24-28, 2020, the police checked compliance with the legal provisions by the economic agents in the line of acquisition, storage, processing and marketing of wood materials, carrying out checks at 11 economic agents with an object of activity in the forestry field and at a forestry detour.

Two crimes were found, for unauthorized cutting of trees and theft of trees, and 48 contraventional sanctions, totaling 220.000 lei, for violating the provisions of Law no. 171/2010 regarding the establishment and sanctioning of forestry contraventions.

At the same time, complementary measures were ordered for the confiscation of 2.367 cubic meters of wood material, with a total value of 724.397 lei.

The activities were carried out together with police officers from the Maramureș, Bistrita-Năsăud, Cluj, Neamț, Suceava and Vrancea county police inspectorates, with forestry specialists from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests and with representatives of the Cluj, Focșani, Oradea Forest Guards , Ploiesti, Suceava and Timisoara
