DSU announced yesterday the bringing to Romania of the 5th mobile intensive therapy unit intended to help in the fight against the new Coronavirus, it being brought by a mixed crew made up of people from IGSU and SMURD, but it is possible that may need some in the future.

"During August 25-29, a delegation made up of personnel belonging to IGSU - the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Romania, the Special Unit for Intervention in Emergency Situations and the Foundation for SMURD carried out a mission to receive and bring to the country the - the 5th mobile intensive care units with 12 beds purchased within the project "Increasing the resilience of the national emergency system in case of pandemics and disasters".

The unit was purchased with the help of the Always Near Foundation of the funds raised thanks to the Români Împreună teledon. Also, also with the help of the Always Almost Foundation, 12 intensive care monitors and 12 consoles with 6 injectors for each bed were purchased, the ventilators to be provided by the IGSU - General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Romania through purchases made with the help of ONAC.

This unit will remain for the time being within the Special Unit for Intervention in Emergency Situations - Ciolpani and will be sent, depending on the evolution of the pandemic situation in our country, to support a hospital in a county of the country whose capacity to admit critical cases resulting from infection with the Sars - CoV - 2 virus is outgrown.

All 5 units together with the related medical equipment will enter Romania's strategic disaster response reserve.
