This week we had two very serious records in the Coronavirus pandemic, two days with over 4000 new cases, over 70 deaths, and over 700 people hospitalized in intensive care, and today we can expect a similar balance sheet for the country Our.
Unfortunately, the Coronavirus pandemic is hitting Romania hard again, the large number of tests done every day revealing the fact that a very large number of people are infected nationally, Bucharest being the most affected city, but various other large counties are also affected.
The situation is very serious, and it will become dramatic because more than two thirds of intensive care beds are already occupied, and hospitals have reached overload, so we can expect an avalanche of cases of Coronavirus that will completely block the system medical.
"Until today, October 16, on the territory of Romania, 172.516 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
127.076 patients were declared cured.
Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 4.026 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. To date, 5.749 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.
In the interval 15.10.2020 (10:00) - 16.10.2020 (10:00) 75 deaths (43 men and 32 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Alba, Arad, Argeș were reported , Bacău, Bistrita-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Calarasi, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iasi, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea , Vaslui, Vrancea and the City of Bucharest.
Of these, 3 deaths were recorded in the age category 20-29 years, 3 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 8 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 20 deaths in the age category 60-69 years , 22 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 19 deaths in the over 80 age category.
All registered deaths are of patients who had comorbidities.
In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 9.838. Of these, 726 are hospitalized at ATI.
Until this date, at the national level, 2.800.912 tests have been processed. Of these, 30.325 were performed in the last 24 hours, 18.337 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 11.988 on request.
Also, since the last information provided by the GCS, the results of 106 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until October 16 have been reported.
On the territory of Romania, 17.874 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 9.155 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 42079 people are in home quarantine, and 45 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 2.235 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 1.182 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially for informing citizens.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 5.995 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 906.255 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 6 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.
We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) to which violations of sanitary protection rules can be reported.
The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.
Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 6.828 Romanian citizens have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1.917 in Italy, 1.253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3.013 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain , 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 122 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar and the Vatican. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the US, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died."
