Coronavirus Romania New Cases Cured October 17

The Coronavirus pandemic has engulfed Romania in all its corners, extremely many people are infected, not all detected by tests, and the authorities seem to have no more methods to prevent the spread of the virus in several areas of the country with a much greater speed than now.

This week brought us new records of infections, people hospitalized in intensive care, and even deaths, and these things will continue in the following weeks, even the Minister of Health confirming this, so we can expect the worst in our country .

A lot of warnings have been issued by the authorities in Romania regarding how Romanians should protect themselves against infection with the new Coronavirus, but unfortunately more work of persuasion is needed to cover all the disinformation campaigns.

"Until today, October 17, on the territory of Romania, 176.468 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

129.556 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 3.952 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 871 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

To date, 5.812 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

In the interval 16.10.2020 (10:00) - 17.10.2020 (10:00) 63 deaths (37 men and 26 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Alba, Argeș, Bacău were reported .

Of these, 1 death was registered in the age category 30-39 years, 3 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 8 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 14 deaths in the age category 60- 69 years, 21 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 16 deaths in the over 80 age category.

All registered deaths are of patients who had comorbidities.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 9.802. Of these, 745 are hospitalized at ATI.

Up to this date, at the national level, 2.832.679 tests have been processed. Of these, 31.767 were performed in the last 24 hours, 18.564 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 13.203 on request.

On the territory of Romania, 18.748 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 9.308 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 44.154 people are in home quarantine, and 46 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 2.416 calls were made to the single emergency number 112 and 897 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 5.505 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 851.845 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 9 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 6.829 Romanian citizens have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1.917 in Italy, 1.253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3.013 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain , 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 122 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican and Portugal . From the beginning of the epidemic of COVID-19 (coronavirus) until this moment, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
