Today we have new statistics on the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic in Romania, and you can see that things are getting worse and worse for our country, the Minister of Health announcing that there will be a few more difficult weeks, with new and greater increases in the number of daily cases of infection.

The number of people admitted to intensive care has exceeded previous records, while the daily number of deaths continues to rise alarmingly, approaching 100, the authorities warning that this will happen in the coming weeks in our country.

Unfortunately, the authorities are unable to convince Romanians to protect themselves against a possible infection with the new Coronavirus, and disinformation is in full swing on social networks, so it is understandable why many people refuse to wear a mask, being tricked into exposed to a very high risk of infection.

"Until today, October 18, on the territory of Romania, 180.388 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
130.894 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 3.920 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

To date, 5.872 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

In the interval 17.10.2020 (10:00) - 18.10.2020 (10:00) 60 deaths (41 men and 19 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Alba, Arad, Argeș were reported , Bacău, Bistrita-Năsăud, Brăila, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Maramureș, Mureș, Prahova, Timiș, Vaslui, Ilfov and the Municipality of Bucharest.

Of these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age category 40-49 years, 9 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 14 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 19 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 16 deaths in the over 80 category.

58 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, 1 patient had no comorbidities, and for 1 patient no comorbidities have been reported to date.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 9.984. Of these, 749 are hospitalized at ATI.

Up to this date, at the national level, 2.852.186 tests have been processed. Of these, 19.507 were performed in the last 24 hours, 11.530 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 7.977 on request.

On the territory of Romania, 20.301 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 9.583 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 46.475 people are in home quarantine, and 45 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 1.597 calls were made to the single emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 7.077 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 1.439.260 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 13 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.
The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 6.829 Romanian citizens have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1.917 in Italy, 1.253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3.013 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain , 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 122 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican and Portugal . From the beginning of the epidemic of COVID-19 (coronavirus) until this moment, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
