The coronavirus is the main problem of the authorities in Romania at the moment, the pandemic starting to gain momentum since September, and now we have reached over 4000 new cases reported daily during the week, almost every day, which worries a lot of people .
Unfortunately, in some hospitals, doctors have come to choose which patients are admitted to intensive care, and which do not receive this type of care, i.e. the tragic situation seen in Italy at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, a situation that could be repeated in us, unfortunately.
The authorities in Romania expect the daily number of new cases of Coronavirus to increase to over 5000 this week, and the restrictive measures that have already been taken, and that will be taken, will see their effects only in a few weeks, only if they be respected.
"Until today, October 20, on the territory of Romania, 186.254 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
134.395 patients were declared cured.
Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 3.400 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

To date, 5.996 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.
Between 19.10.2020 (10:00) and 20.10.2020 (10:00) 65 deaths (34 men and 31 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Argeș, Bacău, Bistrita, were reported -Năsăud, Botoșani, Buzău, Calarasi, Caraş-Severin, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Harghita, Ialomița, Iasi, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiş, Tulcea , Vaslui, Ilfov and the City of Bucharest.
Of these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age category 40-49 years, 6 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 12 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 23 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 22 deaths in the over 80 category.
61 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had co-morbidities, 1 deceased patient had no co-morbidities and for 3 deceased patients no co-morbidities have been reported to date.
In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 10.266. Of these, 768 are hospitalized at ATI.
Up to this date, at the national level, 2.890.071 tests have been processed. Of these, 29.400 were performed in the last 24 hours, 19.172 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 10.228 on request.
Also, since the last information provided by the GCS, the results of 445 tests processed prior to the last 24 hours and transmitted until October 20 have been reported.
On the territory of Romania, 20.352 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 9.880 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 50.285 people are in home quarantine, and 16 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 2.514 calls were made to the single emergency number 112 and 1.241 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 5.220 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 837.030 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 11 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.
We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.
The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.
Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 6.829 Romanian citizens have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1.917 in Italy, 1.253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3.013 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain , 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 122 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican and Portugal . From the beginning of the epidemic of COVID-19 (coronavirus) until this moment, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.
Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia."
