Coronavirus Romania Cases October 21

The situation of the Corona virus pandemic in Romania continues to worsen, the authorities in our country announcing constant increases in the number of cases of infection, which continues to put serious pressure on the medical system in Romania, which is very fragile anyway, unfortunately.

The number of people hospitalized in intensive care continues to rise, as does the number of people who died, and things seem to have gotten completely out of control, or at least that is the feeling based on the very high numbers that are constantly announced by to the authorities.

The restrictive measures have started to return in Romania, the authorities taking the decision to re-impose them in Bucharest, together with many other localities, so that a new wave of complaints is following them, but this was to be expected, but it could we have even tougher measures.

"Until today, October 21, on the territory of Romania, 191.102 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

137.835 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 4.848 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, per 1.000 inhabitants, calculated by the Public Health Directorates, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties is as follows:

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 773 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

To date, 6.065 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

In the interval 20.10.2020 (10:00) - 21.10.2020 (10:00) 69 deaths (44 men and 25 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Alba, Arad, Bacău were reported , Bistrița-Năsăud, Brăila, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Ilfov and the City of Bucharest.

Of these, 10 deaths were recorded in the age category 50-59 years, 18 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 18 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 23 deaths in the category over 80 years.

65 of the registered deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, and 4 deceased patients did not present comorbidities.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 10.250. Of these, 766 are hospitalized at ATI.  

Up to this date, at the national level, 2.927.096 have been processed  tests. Of these, 37.025 were performed in the last 24 hours, 22.388 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 14.637 on request.

On the territory of Romania, 20.593 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 9.808  people are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 50.162 people are in home quarantine, and 51 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 2.296 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 949 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens. 

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 6.091 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 845.200 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 14 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 6.829 Romanian citizens have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1.917 in Italy, 1.253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3.013 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain , 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA,  122 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in United Arab Emirates and one each  in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican and Portugal. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
