Coronavirus Romania New Cases, Cures from November 17, 2020

The situation of the Corona virus pandemic in Romania continues to be very serious, and this in the conditions where the authorities have been trying for some time to convince the Romanians to respect the protective measures against the very dangerous virus that has already killed many people all over the world.

The number of people hospitalized in intensive care continues to increase, as well as the number of deaths, and the situation seems to be only going from bad to worse, at least if we look at all the data related to the incidence rates, and the way what are the predicted numbers of new cases in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, the authorities in Romania are not able to convince enough Romanians to comply with the protective measures against the new Coronavirus, but they are not even thinking of imposing new restrictive measures for the time being, although they could help reduce the number of new cases.

"Until today, November 17, on the territory of Romania, 373.474 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

253.244 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 8.262 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

 *Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 497 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 9.261 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 16.11.2020 (10:00) and 17.11.2020 (10:00) 186 deaths (110 men and 76 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș hospitals, were reported. Bacău, Bihor, Bistrita-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Călărași, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galăți, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iasi, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Prahova, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui and the City of Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was registered in the age category 30-39 years, 5 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 15 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 45 deaths in the age category 60- 69 years, 69 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 51 deaths in the over 80 age category.

182 of the registered deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, and 4 deceased patients did not present comorbidities.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13.292. Of these, 1.174 are hospitalized at ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 3.733.410 tests have been processed. Of these, 31.082 were performed in the last 24 hours, 18.868 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 12.214 on request.

On the territory of Romania, 46.884 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 13.382 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 80.262 people are in home quarantine, and 16 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

 In the last 24 hours, 6.412 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 1.046 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on November 16 this year, 7.633 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 1.308.631 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 8 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 6.863 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus): 1.935 in Italy, 1.253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3.018 in Germany, 167 in Great Britain, 36 in Hungary, 28 in Holland, 2 in Namibia, 4 in USA, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus , 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican , Portugal and Egypt. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia."
