Coronavirus Romania New Cases, Cures from November 18, 2020

The situation of the Coronavirus pandemic in Romania continues to go in a not very good direction, with a very high rate of positivity during yesterday, and it is expected that this will continue in the next period, with more and more infections announced by to the authorities.

The number of people in intensive care continues to be very high, the situation remains extremely serious, and unfortunately we see that the figures regarding deaths continue to exceed any kind of forecasts, no matter how gloomy they are, the situation being very serious.

The authorities in Romania continue to impose protective measures and quarantines, but unfortunately the situation is very far from being in any way on the right path, so we can expect things to get worse in the next period, even before the parliamentary elections .

"Until today, November 18, on the territory of Romania, 383.743 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

261.387 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 10.269 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 1.207 people were reconfirmed positive.

According to the data communicated by the authorities, Sibiu county exceeded the rate of 9 infections per thousand inhabitants.

Until today, 9.429 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 17.11.2020 (10:00) and 18.11.2020 (10:00) 168 deaths (102 men and 66 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș hospitals, were reported. Bacău, Bihor, Bistrita-Năsăud, Botoșani, Braila, Brașov, Buzău, Calarasi, Caraș-Severin, Constanta, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iasi, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vâlcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and the City of Bucharest.

Of these, 4 deaths were recorded in the 40-49 age category, 16 deaths in the 50-59 age category, 42 deaths in the 60-69 age category, 62 deaths in the 70-79 age category years and 44 deaths in the over 80 category.

163 of the registered deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, and 5 deceased patients did not present comorbidities.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13.179. Of these, 1.174 are hospitalized at ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 3.771.316 tests have been processed. Of these, 37.906 were performed in the last 24 hours, 23.269 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 14.637 on request.

On the territory of Romania, 46.875 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 13.285 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 80.763 people are in home quarantine, and 19 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 5.494 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 747 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on November 17 this year, 7.768 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 1.357.090 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday, 7 crimes were detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.
