Coronavirus Romania New Cases Announced on January 18, 2021

A new information regarding the Coronavirus pandemic came from the authorities in Romania, and we are talking about new figures that show us that there is stability in terms of new cases, so the situation does not seem to have worsened, at least for now.

There are still many deaths, and many people hospitalized in intensive care, but this is because there were many confirmed cases in the previous weeks, so it is possible that this situation will continue in the following weeks.

On the other hand, the vaccination against the Coronavirus continues in force in Romania, and this is normal, over 200.000 people have already been immunized, and several hundred thousand others have also been registered for vaccination in Romania in the last few days.

"Until today, January 18, on the territory of Romania, 695.153 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

625.449 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 1.509 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 427 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 17.271 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 17.01.2021 (10:00) and 18.01.2021 (10:00) 50 deaths (28 men and 22 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, were reported , Brăila, Bistrița-Năsăud, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Galati, Maramureș, Neamț, Olt, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiș, Vaslui, Vâlcea and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was registered in the age category 40-49 years, 3 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 13 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 20 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 13 deaths in the over 80 category.

44 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had co-morbidities, 1 deceased patient had no co-morbidities, and for 5 deceased patients no co-morbidities have been reported to date.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 8.710. Of these, 1.084 are hospitalized at ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 5.170.357 RT-PCR tests and 46.176 rapid antigen tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 5.808 RT-PCR tests were performed (4.303 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1.505 on request) and 3.093 rapid antigen tests.

On the territory of Romania, 36.522 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 8.406 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 61.762 people are in home quarantine, and 121 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

 

In the last 24 hours, 1.407 calls were made to the single emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on January 17, 5.551 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 1.309.875 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 6 criminal files were drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 7.440 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1.941 in Italy, 1.515 in Spain, 173 in Great Britain, 125 in France, 3.110 in Germany, 93 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 7 in Sweden, 131 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 36 in Switzerland , 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 2 in Bulgaria, 12 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in the Republic of Moldova, 3 in Montenegro, 95 in Ireland and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican City, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan, Iran, Singapore, Slovenia, Russian Federation and Croatia. From the beginning of the epidemic of COVID-19 (coronavirus) until this moment, 136 Romanian citizens abroad, 33 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, 3 in Sweden, 4 in Ireland, 2 in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo, one in Greece and one in Iran, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with infection with the new coronavirus, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine.
