The Moderna vaccine, produced by the US pharmaceutical company, is also used in Romania for immunization against the Coronavirus, according to the Ministry of Health, which officially announced today that the process will begin on February 1.

Romania receives daily approximately 14.000 doses of the Moderna vaccine, but has avoided distributing it until now in order to have a sufficient stock so that the process is one that takes place in a continuous flow, and this will allow filling the shortages caused by the non-delivery doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

"In order to inform public opinion and for the good management and development of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19, the Communication Group of the CNCAV makes the following clarifications:

Starting from February 1 this year, at the level of vaccination centers in Romania, the administration of the Moderna vaccine will begin, for which the booster is carried out every 28 days.

At the same time, starting on January 28, the process of rescheduling the persons included in the II vaccination stage in the category of essential areas is being implemented. Thus, a person initially scheduled for the administration of the first dose on January 28 will be rescheduled for February 8 with a reminder on March 8 (28 days).

There are 35.304 people who had an initial appointment between January 28 and February 11 and who will be rescheduled at an interval of 10 days.

With regard to the rescheduling of persons from Stage II in the category of essential fields, this is done through the IT platform, in the order in which the initial appointments were made, at the vaccination centers where they were originally scheduled. CNCAV has already formulated the new operational requirements to the Special Telecommunications Service, so that the reprogramming process can be carried out optimally.

All people who will be rescheduled will be notified by SMS and e-mail, where the new dates and time intervals for the administration of the vaccine will be specified. Also, by e-mail they will receive a new receipt containing the new appointment data, with the possibility of viewing the receipt in the "My Appointments" section, directly in the platform.

We specify that for people scheduled in Stage II, except for people from essential fields, the same vaccination rate is maintained. Vaccination continues for people in residential centers, on dialysis, immobile and homeless.

The CNCAV sent an information to all vaccination centers regarding these measures, as well as the Procedure regarding vaccination with Moderna doses, so that both vaccines are used in strict accordance with the characteristics of each type of vaccine for the planned population. We assure you that the CNCAV and all the institutions involved in organizing and conducting the vaccination campaign are making efforts with full responsibility so that every scheduled person benefits from the vaccine."
