The Romanian government continues to issue alerts for all Romanians as an increasing number of attacks are taking place starting from ads placed on OLX websites, and unfortunately there is no quick solution to the situation we are going through.
The Romanian government presents below the new attack method that some use to trick those who place ads on the OLX platform, and you must be extremely careful not to end up having your data, or money, stolen by hackers.
"UPDATE #SCAM method targeting OLX customers in Romania. People who put products for sale on the platform are surprised to be contacted by individuals who converse exclusively in English.
Recently, the CERT-RO team was notified about the possibility that some users may be contacted by attackers who do not communicate in the Romanian language, who show interest in the product and declare themselves willing to pay including a considerable amount for shipping, as can be seen from the attached images.
The end result is the same, convincing the contacted user to enter their card details on a #phishing page created or controlled by the attackers, which they access from a link also sent by these cybercriminals. Avoid providing such data on unsafe sites, especially after accessing links from unknown sources!”
