Facebook Strengthens the Fight Against Child Abuse

Facebook is the largest social network on the planet, but unfortunately, all kinds of materials are distributed within it, not all of them really suitable for adults, and in no case for children, the problem being known by the company .

Facebook knows that there is a problem within its messaging network with the distribution of content that presents abuse against children, and now announces that it has decided to implement changes aimed at reducing to a good extent the number of materials of this kind distributed.

Facebook will first of all implement a warning message for users who search within its platform for materials that present abuse against children, and will then display information about the legal risks to which they are exposed.

Facebook also implements checks for materials that contain images of abused children, and those who distribute them will see an alert that tells them that that content regularly violates the platform, and it will be deleted, along with any kind of accounts that promote that content.

"Based on our findings, we are developing specific solutions, including new tools and policies to reduce the sharing of this type of content. We started by testing two new tools – one aimed at potentially malicious looking for this content and another aimed at non-malicious sharing of this content. The first is a pop-up that is shown to people who search for terms in our apps associated with child exploitation. The pop-up provides ways to get help from hijacking organizations and shares information about the consequences of viewing illegal content.”

Facebook will include in the category of content that presents abuse against children and materials that show children hitting each other, or adults hitting children even as a joke, so it would be better not to publish this kind of content on the platform.
