Coronavirus Romania New Cases, Cures from February 28, 2021

The Coronavirus pandemic has started to intensify in Romania, with increases between 20% and almost 50% in the number of new daily cases compared to last week, the situation being increasingly serious unfortunately for all of us.

The number of cases of people admitted to ATI, or of deaths, remains high, and most likely will increase in the coming weeks as the daily number of cases increases, so we can only follow what is happening it will happen

The vaccination campaign remained at the same pace, with a few vaccinations with the first dose continued, but perhaps the rate will increase in the coming weeks as new doses of the vaccine arrive in Romania to immunize people.

"Until today, February 28, on the territory of Romania, 801.994 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

740.352 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 2.830 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

 

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 424 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 20.350 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

 

Between 27.02.2021 (10:00) - 28.02.2021 (10:00) 63 deaths (33 men and 30 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, Argeș, Arad, were reported , Bacău, Bistrita-Năsăud, Brăila, Bihor, Botoşani, Buzău, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Hunedoara, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Neamț, Olt, Satu Mare, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vâlcea and Bucharest.

 

Of these, 1 death was registered in the age category 30-39 years, 1 death in the age category 40-49 years, 8 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 19 deaths in the age category 60-69 years , 19 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 15 deaths in the over 80 age category.

 

61 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, 1 deceased patient had no comorbidities, and for 1 deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported to date.

 

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 8.064. Of these, 1.006 are hospitalized at ATI.

 

Until this date, at the national level, 6.022.647 RT-PCR tests and 300.660 rapid antigenic tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 12.941 RT-PCR tests (6.933 based on case definition and medical protocol and 6.008 on request) and 4.550 rapid antigen tests were performed.

 

On the territory of Romania, 40.937 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 11.875 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 49.718 people are in home quarantine, and 152 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

 

In the last 24 hours, 2.214 calls were made to the single emergency number 112.

 

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on February 27, 6.561 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 1.352.840 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 5 criminal files were drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

 

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.
