Planet Venus: Incredible Plan for Surface Exploration

Venus planet drone

The planet Venus would be the next "battlefield" for the big space agencies on Earth, and this in the context where on Mars NASA dominates exploration with the robots it sent in the last decade. The planet Venus has suddenly become very interesting for Russia, which is thinking of exploring the surface of the planet, but also its atmosphere, using drones instead of the helicopter that NASA uses to explore Mars starting yesterday.

The planet Venus could be explored by a drone that Russia would like to send there together with the Venera-D spacecraft, which is currently under development to be launched by 2030. The Russian space agency wants his drone to be able to fly above the surface of the planet Venus, but also at various altitudes in the atmosphere, being also able to carry up to 60% of its weight.

Planet Venus: Incredible Plan for Surface Exploration

Until now, the planet Venus has not been explored by any space agency directly on the surface, or from the atmosphere, and this is because no spacecraft or robot has been able to stay on its surface. Of course, Russia should find a method to protect the internal components of the drone that will be sent to the planet Venus so that it can continue to fly there beyond the few minutes that the previous robots lasted.

The planet Venus has been the focus of the Russians' attention for some time, and they are most likely in a competition with NASA, which has been trying for years to find projects to explore the planet. So far, those from NASA have not announced any similar idea, being focused on Mars, but the planet Venus could be the next one on which we could see a helicopter sent by the American space agency, even if after the Russians.

The planet Venus would be monitored in the meantime by another spacecraft that should be sent by India, but it will analyze the planet only from orbit, without entering its atmosphere.
