Government of Romania: Announcement regarding the free vaccinations

The Government of Romania Announces Free Vaccines

The Romanian government published an official announcement regarding the free vaccinations in Romania after Ludovic Orban, the president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, stated that they will no longer be offered free of charge forever.

The Romanian government says that at the moment there are no discussions about renouncing the free vaccination against the Coronavirus, but it is logical to assume that we will not be able to immunize ourselves for free forever, as is the case with other vaccines.

"We asked the prefects to make an additional effort to speed up the vaccination campaign. I want to make sure that Romanians are vaccinated in as large a number as possible. It is important to continue what went well, namely the organization of vaccination marathons in cities and municipalities. We also need to bring the vaccine closer to people, especially in rural areas.

I want to emphasize, at the same time, that in Romania the vaccine is and will remain free and available to all people. There is no discussion in the Romanian Government to change things. On the contrary, we have already placed orders for vaccines to continue the immunization campaign in the fall and next year, given that we do not know exactly how the pandemic will evolve.
At the same time, we drew attention to the fact that there are too big differences between counties when we talk about the vaccination rate. The counties in the south of Romania and those in the north-east must do more. We insisted on opening as many vaccination centers as possible in airports and border points, especially centers with Johnson&Johnson vaccine, for Romanians who enter or leave the country and choose to be vaccinated with a dose. And we come up with more solutions, especially for rural areas.
