Huawei: The Important Decisions That Had a Huge Impact

Huawei blockages

Huawei is still one of the largest IT groups in the world despite the sanctions that were imposed by the US against the Chinese company, it managing to maintain its revenues at a high level. Despite this, in 2021 many states in the European Union formalized an informal decision to ban Huawei equipment for their own telecommunications networks, and this was also adopted in Romania through the 5G law.

Huawei tried to oppose the adoption of the law in Romania, just like in other countries, it lobbied, it explained what the negative consequences of such decisions would be, but everywhere security was placed above prices. Huawei has very cheap telecommunications equipment, and this allowed many telecommunications operators to make not very large investments to create infrastructures to cover entire countries, but everything changes from 2021.

Huawei: The Important Decisions That Had a Huge Impact

Huawei is prohibited from supplying 5G equipment in many countries in Europe, and in some it is prohibited from supplying 4G equipment as well, with certain governments taking the decision to exclude equipment already in use. For the most part, Huawei has blocked access to the sale of telecommunications equipment for various types of European networks, and not only that, similar decisions have also been taken in many other countries where a lot of Chinese equipment was sold.

Huawei fully felt these important decisions taken by various governments, but decided not to give up, but instead reorients itself towards other technologies, but also on the Chinese market, which is big enough to support it. Even if the sale of telecommunications equipment is now blocked for Huawei, the Chinese company will probably find a solution to circumvent the measures, probably through partners and subsidiaries, as it intended to do.

Meanwhile, Huawei is trying to find solutions to bring back its premium phones in stores around the world with top components and Android with Google Play, even if the efforts are hampered by the US sanctions.
