Valeriu Gheorghita: First Death from the Delta Strain of the Coronavirus

Valeriu Gheorghita Death Delta strain of coronavirus

Valeriu Gheorghita revealed today the fact that the first death of a person infected with the delta strain of the Coronavirus was registered in Romania, so that this much more contagious variant of the virus has also started to circulate in our country.

Valeriu Gheorghita says that vaccination is extremely important since this variant started circulating in Romania, the person who died without being vaccinated, and this is how we see the extremely early stages of the 4th wave of infections in the fall.

"Today, unfortunately, the first case of death was recorded as a result of infection with the Indian strain, the Delta variant, and it is about an unvaccinated person.
Even if today, in Romania, the epidemiological situation is very good, it is important to continue to vaccinate, in order to ensure maximum protection against this viral variant, which has every ability to become the dominant strain. The data so far shows us increased transmission among unvaccinated people and those who do not have the full vaccination schedule. It should be stated that all four vaccines used in Romania are as effective against the Delta strain as against the previous SARS-CoV-2 strains.
We continue to bring the vaccine closer to the beneficiaries, especially in rural areas, through the "The city vaccinates the village" program. We have collected all the data from the territory regarding the localities in the rural environment, for their rounding at the already existing vaccination centers, from where mobile vaccination teams will be sent.
We have functional 177 vaccination centers organized in rural localities and in 770 localities vaccinations by mobile teams have started. We have 456 mobile teams that provide vaccination in rural areas, where more than 62 thousand people have been vaccinated under this program.
At the level of the National Committee for the Coordination of Vaccination Activities, we constantly evaluate the efficiency of the vaccination centers, so as to maintain a correct, honest balance between the material investments we make, the human resource and the pace of vaccination."
