RCS & RDS is the largest Romanian telecommunications group in our country, and today millions of customers from all over the country are affected by a huge change that is taking place now. More precisely, those from RCS & RDS must implement an ANCOM decision based on which the prices for terminating mobile and landline calls are reduced, the same being imposed on the rest of the telecommunications operators from all over Romania from this very moment.
RCS & RDS has millions of customers who use these two services at the moment in Romania, and the change applies to all of them, without discrimination, even starting today, July 1. RCS & RDS has not yet made an official announcement regarding this change in the charging policy for the termination of fixed and mobile telephony calls, but those from ANCOM have made it, and the decision that was taken by the authorities must be implemented.
RCS & RDS: Official Announcement, Millions of Customers Are Affected
RCS & RDS is going to apply a rate of 0.7 eurocents per minute for the termination of mobile calls in its network, for the termination of fixed calls the rate is 0.078 eurocents per minute. The European Commission decided these tariffs, and they are applied directly in Romania by RCS & RDS, or any other telecommunications operators, without the need for a special law in this regard, so everything becomes active and official starting from from July 1 in our country.
RCS & RDS will have to make other changes in terms of mobile call termination rates, so that from January 1, 2022 they will be reduced from 0.7 euro cents per minute to 0.55 euro cents per minute. From January 1, 2023, the RCS & RDS rate is reduced again to 0.4 euro cents per minute, and from January 1, 2024, a new reduction is applied up to 0.2 euro cents per minute, so in the next two and a half years the rate will be reduced to less a third of the current one.
RCS & RDS is obliged to impose these new tariffs for customers from all over Romania starting with those dates, without exception, so the termination of fixed and mobile calls will be much cheaper from year to year.
