Telegram has officially announced a very important new change for millions of phones around the world, the new version being offered right now for users all over the world and there are hundreds of millions using the platform.
Telegram has for some time implemented for hundreds of millions of iPhone and Android phone users around the world the ability to make group video calls, but now the company takes everything to another level and offers the option to talk with up to 1000 people simultaneous.
Telegram limits the ability to transmit video streams from phones to 30 people, but the number of those who can participate in video transmissions made through the platform has been increased to 1000 and will continue to increase in the coming months.
Telegram presents below all the important changes that have been made for everyone, so you can get a clearer idea of how much the experience of using the platform is changing at the moment around the world.
Group video calls 2.0
- Group video calls now support up to 1000 video viewers as well as unlimited audio-only listeners.
- To start a group video call, create a Voice Chat from the info page of any group you're an admin in – then start the video.
Video playback speed
- Tap … in the media player to select 0,5, 1,5 or 2X playback speed while watching a video.
Video messaging 2.0
- Enjoy higher resolution video messages in your chats.
- Tap a video message to expand it.
- Pinch to zoom while recording a video message with the rear camera.
- Keep playing music while recording video messages.
- Tap the "voicemail" button once to switch to video mode, then hold to record and release to send.
Time stamps
- Add timestamps like "0:45" to captions and replies to automatically create links that play the video from that specific moment.
- If a video caption includes a time stamp, tap and hold it to copy a link to that moment.
Improved in-app camera
- Switch to 0,5x or 2x zoom when taking photos or videos if supported by your device.
- Hold the zoom button to open a zoom wheel with granular controls.
Screen sharing with sound
- Share your screen in 1-to-1 video calls as well as group video calls.
- The sound from your device is included during screen sharing in any video call.
- Swipe left or right to select a video source when you turn on the camera in any video call.
Other changes
- Tap "Select" in the forwarding menu to choose multiple recipients.
- Swipe with two fingers in the chat list to select multiple chats.
- Enable auto-delete in your chats to remove messages after a month (also 1 day or 1 week).
- Easily draw small details in the media editor – the brush now shrinks as you zoom.
- Profile photos in groups follow messages as you scroll through the chat.
