WhatsApp: The Official Change That Nobody Noticed

Unobserved WhatsApp

WhatsApp makes a multitude of changes for its customers around the world, but some of them, even if they are important, go unnoticed if they are not brought to people's attention or are not mentioned among the change lists. One of these changes is related to the voice messages that WhatsApp allows us to send, or that we receive from other people, and the change is one that many people should know about.

WhatsApp did everything in secret and only now has the change been revealed for those who are eager to know what changes within the messaging application, apparently quite often in recent months. More precisely, those at WhatsApp decided to make a change for the way we listen to the received voice messages, so that they are downloaded to the phones in order to have the best possible experience when listening to them.

WhatsApp: The Official Change That Nobody Noticed

WhatsApp unnoticed messages

WhatsApp automatically downloads voice messages to our phones when we press the play button, and everything happens without us being told anything at any time. The audio file downloaded by WhatsApp when we press the play button will be played normally without stopping to load its continuation, so in theory the application should offer us a very good experience, but this is only part of the change that is offered.

WhatsApp cannot always download the messages we receive from other people, and in these situations it displays the size of the respective message in the platform's servers. Of course, this doesn't help us much when we can't listen to the message, but at least we know how much that file will take up after downloading, the sizes being tiny, but at least this way we know how much a file of this kind takes up on our devices.

WhatsApp made this change without the world noticing what was happening, it not being one of the most important so far, but it matters for the general experience of using the platform.
