Romania: Concern due to the Delta Variant of the Coronavirus

Romania Worries about the Cause of the Delta Coronavirus Variant

The Delta variant of the Coronavirus is still causing great concern in Romania, unfortunately, and this is because more and more infections are being detected among people, and the authorities present us with an even bigger problem than that, unfortunately.

Romanian authorities say that in the 359 cases of infection with the Delta variant sequenced so far, 21 deaths were recorded, while in the case of the Alfa variant, 1695 deaths were recorded in 27 detected cases, so the death rate it seems to be much bigger in the new version.

"We eliminate concerns only by vaccination!
‼️ 2.088 cases with variants of SARS-CoV-2 that cause concern (VOC) have been confirmed, of which 359 are with the Delta variant.
Of the 359 confirmed cases with the Delta variant, 74 (20,6%) were vaccinated: 3 incompletely and 71 fully vaccinated (19,8% of the total).
The weekly evolution of the proportion of cases confirmed with the Delta variant from the total number of cases confirmed with VOC has an increasing trend, from a value of 1,5% in week 21, to 17.2% in week 32.
We remind you that one of the selection criteria of the COVID-19 cases for sequencing is vaccination, so the proportion of vaccinated cases from the total number of confirmed cases with the Delta variant does not reflect the situation in the general population, but in a selected group.
Vaccination remains the best solution for protection against COVID-19!
By vaccination against COVID-19:
- the risk of infection is reduced;
- the risk of virus transmission is reduced;
– the risk of hospitalization is considerably reduced;
- the risk of death is considerably reduced."
