A huge number of new cases of Coronavirus was officially revealed by the authorities in our country just a few minutes ago, they started to publish provisional information before the final balances, and the figures remain extremely worrying.
For the first time in recent weeks, we have a number of new cases today that is lower than last week, with only 200 cases, for a total of 16.110, but the good part is that we see a first day with a stop of growth, if it is not related to the decrease in test processing.
On the other hand, there is still a critical situation in hospitals, unfortunately for all of us, but the vaccination campaign continues to attract more and more Romanians willing to be immunized, which is excellent news, but it remains to be seen how long continue these trends.
"Until today, October 21, 1.519.532 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been registered on the territory of Romania, of which 6.597 are of re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.
1.288.761 patients were declared cured.
In the last 24 hours, 16.110 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, of which 228 are re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.
**As for cases from abroad, these are cases of citizens who came to Romania having been infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total of new cases not allocated by county.
The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 1.399 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 43.487 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
In the interval 20.10.2021 (10:00) – 21.10.2021 (10:00) 448 deaths (215 men and 233 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, were reported by the INSP. Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bistrita-Năsăud, Bihor, Botoșani, Brașov, Brăila, Buzău, Calarasi, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanta, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Ialomița, Iasi, Ilfov, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea and the City of Bucharest.
Among the 448 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category 20-29 years, 21 in the age category 40-49 years, 66 in the age category 50-59 years, 104 in the age category 60-69 years, 148 in the age category 70-79 years and 108 in the age category over 80 years.
412 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, 12 deceased patients had no comorbidities, and for 24 deceased patients no comorbidities have been reported to date.
No deaths prior to the reference interval were reported.
Of the total of 448 deceased patients, 412 were unvaccinated and 36 vaccinated. The 36 deceased vaccinated patients were aged between 23 and 80 years. 35 of the deceased vaccinated patients had comorbidities, and no comorbidities were reported for 1 deceased patient.
In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 19.936. Of these, 1.815 are hospitalized at ATI.
Out of the total of hospitalized patients, 476 are minors, 431 being hospitalized in wards and 45 in ATI.
Until this date, at the national level, 10.090.798 RT-PCR tests and 4.064.489 rapid antigen tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 26.097 RT-PCR tests (13.986 based on case definition and medical protocol and 12.111 on request) and 40.783 rapid antigen tests were performed.
On the territory of Romania, 140.921 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 18.774 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 55.623 people are in home quarantine, and 92 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 9.440 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 628 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on October 20, 2.916 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 466.950 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 5 criminal files were drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.
We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.
