The European Commission Requests the Reduction of the Validity of Green Certificates

European Commission Reducing the Validity of Green Certificates

The European Commission requests the reduction of the validity period for digital green certificates when it comes to travel, but the measure would apply exclusively to those who travel from outside the EU to inside the EU, at least in this first phase.

The European Commission would request the imposition of a validity limit of 9 months for green digital certificates from the moment of vaccination with the full scheme, but only with a vaccine approved in the EU, the measure can be applied from January 10 and is intended to to boost vaccination with booster doses.

"The European Union will propose a nine-month deadline for the validity of the COVID-19 vaccine for travel in the bloc and will also suggest giving priority to vaccinated travelers, Bloomberg News reported.

An announcement on the proposals, which cover non-EU travel, is expected later on Thursday, the report said."
