Valeriu Gheorghita made a public announcement regarding an official decision for Romanians all over the country, but he also sends an important message that people should know about, and this is because the vaccination of children between the ages of 5 and 11 is being prepared.
Valeriu Gheorghita conveys that the vaccination process will take place in the current vaccination centers, but also at family doctors, but the information campaign regarding the benefits of the vaccine and adverse reactions will be intensified to reassure parents who are afraid to- and vaccinate children.
"There will be three possibilities of vaccination: both in vaccination offices organized in the current centers, the centers that are addressed to the general population; also in centers in health units and there is obviously the possibility of vaccination including in family medicine offices, when such doses will be requested.
The moment when the vaccination will actually start depends on the delivery of the doses, since Romania, together with the other European countries, will receive the doses that are specially intended for the 5-11 age group. I was telling you that they are different bottles compared to the ones that are used today.
I would like to say at the outset that I understand in every way I completely understand the concern and worry and hesitation that parents have.
What we will do in the next period is to communicate more intensively on this topic, with a preponderance on the young population, including children, precisely to provide sufficient information to parents, related to the safety profile of vaccines, effectiveness, efficiency, benefits direct and indirect, but also of this particular problem really related to the risk of myocarditis.
What is myocarditis? In short, it is an inflammation of the heart muscle, which is not specific to the vaccination against COVID-19, it is found as a potential adverse reaction to other types of vaccines and is commonly caused by several infectious agents both viral, bacterial, parasites, fungi, etc. So it has a multiple cause, there are multiple causes that can determine this inflammation of the heart muscle, they are infectious or non-infectious causes."
