Coronavirus Romania: New Number of New Cases from December 4, 2021

Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases December 4, 2021

The coronavirus continues to be present in Romania and in our lives, even if the Omicron variant does not yet make its presence felt, our country still registers enough daily new cases of infection, and from what is seen in South Africa, it is possible that this new strain to generate a wave 5 stronger than wave 4.

In hospitals, the situation is slowly calming down, less so in the ATI wards, where people continue to arrive who were previously infected and now need specialist help, the problems being serious, and that's why we see over 100 deaths every day reported by the authorities in our country, which is a very serious problem.

The vaccination campaign is also going through a not so good period, and this is because the number of daily immunizations remains very low for this period, and it is expected that the situation will not change too soon, so that wave 5 could be a very strong one, when it starts in our country.

"Until today, December 4, 1.785.120 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) were registered on the territory of Romania, of which 10.447 are of re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.

1.699.083 patients were declared cured.

In the last 24 hours, 1.490 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, of which 31 are of reinfected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection .

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

**As for cases from abroad, these are cases of citizens who came to Romania having been infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total of new cases not allocated by county.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Below you have the graph made based on the reports received by the CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:
