Coronavirus Romania: New Number of New Cases on December 8, 2021

Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases December 8, 2021

The coronavirus continues to be at the center of Romanians' lives during this period, even if recently the number of new cases has been decreasing, the pandemic remaining a very serious problem at the moment, and this is because of the Omicron variant, but until then the authorities have confirmed of new cases in the last 24 hours.

The situation in hospitals is much better than a few weeks ago, the number of hospitalizations is seriously decreasing, as are the numbers of those who need specialized care in the intensive care units, but unfortunately we still register more than 100 daily deaths caused by infection with the Coronavirus , and this is an extremely serious problem.

Regarding the vaccination campaign, it is quite clear that the situation is still very far from being good, with the daily figures regarding immunizations constantly falling, now reaching less than 10.000 daily vaccinations with the first dose , and this trend seems, for now, impossible to reverse, at least based on current data.

"Until today, December 8, 1.789.539 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) were registered on the territory of Romania, of which 10.552 are of re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.

1.707.968 patients were declared cured.

In the last 24 hours, 1.279 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, of which 35 are of reinfected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection .

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

**As for cases from abroad, these are cases of citizens who came to Romania having been infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total of new cases not allocated by county.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Below you have the graph made based on the reports received by the CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:
