DNSC: Warning Regarding a Phishing Campaign with the DACIA Image

DNSC Warning Regarding a Phishing Campaign with the DACIA Image

DNSC is sending Romanians today a very important warning regarding the way the DACIA image is currently being used in phishing attacks whose sole purpose is to extract as much personal data as possible from people.

In recent months, DNSC has issued many warnings of this kind regarding the many phishing attacks that have been taking place in Romania, and which unfortunately have no chance of disappearing too soon because there are still many people who can be fooled and may have data stolen.

"During the winter promotions, attackers continue fraud attempts that use the image of reputable brands, such as online stores, hypermarkets or commercial banks to mask the real recipient of the message. Today we present you a new sample of such an electronic message sent by the attackers, which uses elements corresponding to Dacia's visual identity.

Attackers send messages with fake promotional offers to as many users as possible, tricking them into accessing a link under the pretext of the possibility of winning a Dacia Sandero car. The messages received contain links to fraudulent websites, which copy the Dacia brand image, to convince the potential victim that it is a real contest.

Avoid accessing links from unknown sources or from messages you consider suspicious, even if they come from friends, relatives, colleagues, etc. Check with them for their transmission, on another communication channel.

Always check the name of the site and the existence of a valid security certificate (https), before providing any kind of data in this space. In this case, it is obvious that the user was not visiting the official website.

Do not provide personal, financial or authentication information upon request after accessing such links. This is an attempted fraud.

If you have fallen victim to such a fraudulent attempt and provided bank details, it is important to notify your bank of the problem as soon as possible to block the compromised payment instruments and try to stop any illegal transactions.

During the winter holidays, pay attention to notifications about amounts taken from your account and do not validate transactions that you do not recognize!”
