The BMW i4 and the Tesla Model 3 are two of the most interesting electric cars of the "middle" class, which are still not overly expensive, although the BMW people don't sell their cars too cheap.
The price difference between the BMW i4 and the Tesla Model 3 is not substantial, even if the BMW model in the clip is an M, and the car from Tesla is the Performance version, so both are able to offer top performance, but also a good experience to drive.
The BMW i4 in the video clip above is the i4 M50 model, which in Romania has a starting price of 66.000 euros, while the Tesla Model 3 is the Performance version, which costs about the same. This BMW i4 M50 has two electric motors whose total developed power is 540 horsepower, they are powered by an 81 kWh battery that can provide an autonomy of up to 300 km, although in reality it is probably a little over 200 .
Tesla Model 3 also has two electric motors, they develop 480 horsepower, but although it has a battery of only 77 kWh, its autonomy should still reach up to 400 km.
Inside, both cars have premium materials, it is true that neither the BMW i4 nor the Tesla Model 3 are the top of the range of BMW and Tesla, but even so, at the prices asked for them, they offer enough for customers, even if there is still room for more in this money.
The BMW i4 M50 is 400 KG heavier than the Tesla Model 3, and this is because the platform used is the same as the Series 3 and Series 4 models, and this matters a lot when it comes to the autonomy offered by the battery. If you are not interested in autonomy, but only how fast the cars are, then it is good to know that the BMW i4 is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, while the Tesla Model 3, in the Performance version, is much faster, achieving acceleration in just 3.67 seconds.
BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3 are very different, even if the prices are very close, and you can find details and reasons to buy one or the other in the video clip above, even if in Romania electric cars are not yet that useful .
