Gabriela Firea: Emergency Measures Taken in the Context of the War in Ukraine

Gabriela Firea Urgent Measures Context of the Ukraine War

Gabriela Firea published an extremely important official announcement for Romania during this period, she conveyed as an official of the Romanian Government the fact that during this period of time there is a partnership with Save the Children to help the refugees entering Romania from Ukraine these days .

Gabriela Firea says that Save the Children and UNICEF will provide help for social workers in the counties where refugees from Ukraine arrive to help the children who arrive in Romania, and this is because there are many who enter with their parents to be safe in the context the war in Ukraine.

"Save the Children Romania is with us and offers support at the borders with Ukraine. In this way, they join forces with Romanians with a big soul, with the authorities or other organizations and associations. I spoke with Gabriela Alexandrescu, the executive president of Save the Children Romania, about the support that the association can offer to social workers in counties with border crossing points.

Save the Children Romania is already working in these areas together with the General Inspectorate for Immigration and UNICEF Romania. I was assured that there are, first of all, the translators so necessary for communication with people from Ukraine.

In parallel, the efforts of the county departments of social assistance and child protection to identify spaces for the temporary accommodation of children who could arrive unaccompanied by their parents in our country continue. We have all the youth camps in the counties on the border with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova ready for refugee accommodation. More than 600 places are available in seven leisure centers.

Together with Izabella Kacsó-Doboly, State Secretary for Youth Affairs in the Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, I made a census of youth bases that we can turn into camps for refugees in Ukraine. The Ukrainians who come to Romania will be able to live in normal conditions, they will have a roof over their heads without this additional worry.

We continue to take measures to complement the efforts of the Government of Romania to ensure the best conditions for the thousands of women, children and elderly people who leave their country because of the war."
