Minister of Defense: Last Minute Notifications Targeting Millions of Romanians

The Minister of Defense Last Minute Notifications Target Millions of Romanians

The Minister of Defense notified the millions of Romanians all over the country about a series of extremely important information that they should know about at the moment, and this is because we are talking about announcements related to the war in Ukraine again.

The Minister of Defense explains below why Romanians should not be afraid because of the war in Ukraine, but also what kind of important guarantees Romania has at the moment thanks to NATO membership, something that should not be forgotten by anyone at the time of face.

"We talk a lot in this complicated period about war, destruction, loss of human life and refugees, and we feel our personal safety and security are threatened. It is natural that the impact of the unjustified invasion of Ukraine, a neighboring country, by the Russian Federation should generate concern among Romanians.

Without using slogans, I conveyed to the participants of this debate, as clearly as possible, the message that we should not be afraid, we should not fall into the trap of Russian disinformation and propaganda. Today, Romania benefits from the most solid security guarantees in its history, generated by its membership in NATO and the European Union. NATO is not a distant concept, somewhere in Brussels, NATO is here at the Black Sea. NATO is us! It is an indisputable reality!

Russia's illegal and unjustified invasion of Ukraine is often characterized as a "tipping point" or a "reality awakening."
Whatever we choose to call this moment, it is clear that amid the dramatic change in the security situation in Europe in recent weeks, democratic states have shown that they are capable of coming together, of taking a common and firm stand.

In the current security context, the North Atlantic Alliance proves its relevance more than ever. We stand united, in solidarity and strong together. We are living in a historic moment, and the extraordinary NATO Summit that will take place on March 24 will reaffirm the unity and solidarity of the allies.

These are our primary assets against Russia's attempt to undermine European security and stability and recreate spheres of influence on the continent. Romania is a party to the adoption of some essential decisions at NATO level and benefits from unprecedented measures to reinforce deterrence and defense. The deployment of Allied Battlegroups in central and eastern Europe, including Romania, becomes a real responsibility both nationally and allied."
