The Minister of Transport Two Last Minute Measures Officially Confirmed by Romanians

The Minister of Transport announced two last-minute measures that are very important for all of Romania, Sorin Grindeanul officially confirming the fact that, first of all, the permanent border point Giurgiu - Ruse was reopened to allow the crossing of the Danube by Ferry.

The Minister of Transport also confirmed that lots 1 and 2 in the south of the Bucharest Beltway are moving forward, and based on what has been done so far, he says that the completion of these works should be done on time, that is, sometime during the year 2023.

"We reopen the permanent border point from Giurgiu-Ruse for crossing the Danube by ferry! Through the Agreement signed today, between the Government of Romania and that of the Republic of #Bulgaria, this crossing point will be permanently open for passengers and for vehicles with a maximum weight of 40 tons.

The agreement for crossing the Romanian-Bulgarian border by ferry will enter into force in the fall of this year. Moreover, at today's meeting with the Bulgarian delegation, I reminded the importance of the Fast Danube project being carried out as quickly as possible. It is in the economic interest of both countries that the Danube is navigable throughout the year.

This will allow the transport of much larger volumes of goods on the #Danube (which in the context of the conflict in #Ukraine is of particular importance for the economy of other member states of the European Union). We once again offered the support of Romanian experts to help the Bulgarian side complete the Feasibility Study necessary for the implementation of the Fast Danube project!

Lots 1 and 2 in the south of the Capital Beltway are moving forward! Lot 1: 33,7% Lot 2: over 50% On Lot 1 (16,93 km) and Lot 2 (16,30 km) the contractor has to construct 29 bridges and passages for which 1460 beams are required. So far: 24 girders/ Lot 1 have been installed, 452 girders/ Lot 2. Three metal girders were installed last night at one of the openings of the road crossing crossing the A2 (Autostrada Soarelui).

After the end of the summer season, new temporary traffic restrictions will be imposed, for the installation of other beams for the structures located on the two lots with a total length of 33,23 km. The contractual deadline for the completion of the two lots of the southern sector of the Capital Ring Motorway (A0) is 2023."
